It was chaos in the best way, which is exactly why players are searching for it in FC 26. This year, though, it's simply not on the menu.

What's running instead this summer

EA's Festival of Football is a World Cup–themed run from 5 June to 24 July 2026, packed with live upgrades, new ICONs and over 100 fresh players. The official schedule:

• Path to Glory — Jun 5–19: live international cards that keep upgrading as their nation wins.
• Greats of the Game — Jun 19–26: a big ICON drop, headlined by Pelé, Maradona, Kempes and Rivellino.

• Phenoms — Jul 10–17: the breakout young stars of the season.

Why EA cut Shapeshifters

Two reasons, and honestly both make sense:

1. The theme. This summer is built around real international football for the World Cup — Journey of Nations is all about national teams and regional identity. Shapeshifters' whole gimmick is fictional, position-swapped cards, which clashes with that theme.
2. Repeatable EVOs already do the job. FC 26's Repeatable Evolutions let you change a card's position yourself, whenever you want. A standalone promo just to move players around the pitch is far less necessary when you can EVO your own card into the role you need.

What it means for your squad

Don't hold coins waiting for Shapeshifters — it isn't coming. If you want a player in a new position, run a Repeatable Evolution instead: it's free, and it's permanent. And if you're chasing value this summer, the Festival of Football promos are where your coins go furthest — Path to Glory's live cards keep getting better the deeper their nation runs, and Greats of the Game brings ICONs genuinely worth saving for.
