How to use the builder

  1. Pick one of the 11 outfield archetypes, grouped by Defenders, Midfielders, and Attackers. Goalkeeper archetypes arrive in v1.1.
  2. Set your player Level from 1 to 95. Your Level sets your Attribute Points (AP) budget.
  3. Tune the roughly 29 attributes within your archetype's caps and AP costs.
  4. Watch which of the 36 PlayStyles unlock, each shown with its real in-game icon and quick-unlock AP cost.
  5. Hit Recommended for an instant auto-build, Clear to start over, or copy a shareable link to send your build to teammates.

Archetypes, attributes, and your AP budget

Every build starts with an archetype, and that choice shapes everything else. Each archetype has its own attribute caps and AP costs, so a setup that works for one role feels very different on another.

Your Level decides how much you can spend. The higher your Level, the larger your AP pool, and at Level 95 you have roughly 2,854 points to work with.

  • Key attributes cost less. The attributes that matter most to your archetype are cheaper to raise, so you get more value by leaning into your role.
  • Costs rise as you climb. AP cost increases in tiered steps as an attribute gets higher, so maxing one stat costs far more than spreading points around.
  • Caps keep it realistic. Each attribute is limited by your archetype's cap, so you only plan what the game would actually allow.

PlayStyles and how they unlock

PlayStyles are where a build comes alive. The builder maps all 36 PlayStyles to the attributes that unlock them. Each PlayStyle has a base threshold, so the related attribute has to reach a certain value before it becomes available.

  • Thresholds are EA-validated. The base unlock thresholds in the tool are checked against EA's data, so what you see is what unlocks.
  • Quick-unlock AP is shown. For each locked PlayStyle, the tool shows the points needed to reach its threshold, so you can decide whether it is worth chasing.
  • Real icons. Every PlayStyle appears with its real in-game icon, so the list matches what you see on the pitch.

Use it to chase the PlayStyles that suit your role, instead of spreading AP thin and unlocking none of them cleanly.

How do PlayStyles unlock in the builder?

PlayStyles unlock when your tuned attributes hit each PlayStyle's base threshold. As you raise attributes, the tool shows which of the 36 PlayStyles activate, each with its real in-game icon and a quick-unlock AP cost. All base unlock thresholds are EA-validated.

What are Attribute Points (AP)?

AP are your spending budget for attributes. Your player Level, from 1 to 95, sets how much AP you have, with Level 95 giving roughly 2,854. You spend that budget across the roughly 29 attributes, and raising an attribute higher costs more, since the cost climbs in tiered steps.

How many archetypes are in the builder?

There are 11 outfield archetypes, grouped as Defenders, Midfielders, and Attackers. You pick one to start your build, and each has its own attribute caps and AP costs. Key attributes for that archetype cost less to raise. Goalkeeper archetypes are not in yet and arrive in v1.1.

Is the builder free?

Yes, it is completely free with no signup. You get the full planner: all 11 archetypes, the Level and AP system, attribute tuning, PlayStyle unlocks, a Recommended auto-build, a Clear button, and shareable build links, at no cost.

Is this builder official?

No. EA FC Zone is an independent fan site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by EA SPORTS. That said, accuracy matters to us. PlayStyle thresholds are EA-validated and we show real in-game icons. Some secondary attribute caps are still provisional and clearly flagged pending in-game verification. Nothing fake is ever shown.

Can I share my build?

Yes. Once you have dialled in a build, the tool creates a shareable link. Send it to teammates or post it, and they open the exact same setup: archetype, Level, attribute spread, and unlocked PlayStyles. It is the easiest way to compare builds before you commit in game.

Are goalkeepers included?

Not yet. The current builder covers the 11 outfield archetypes across Defenders, Midfielders, and Attackers. Goalkeeper archetypes are planned for v1.1. We would rather ship GK support once it is properly verified than show provisional data.
