EA FC Mobile: Beginner's Guide to Coins, Gems & Getting Started

EA Sports FC Mobile is the free, separate mobile version of the game — a different beast from console and PC FC 26, with its own currencies, modes and progression. If you're just starting out (or coming over from the big game), here's how FC Mobile actually works and how to get good without spending a penny.
How FC Mobile works
You start with a basic squad and play matches to earn coins, players and rewards. You improve your team by signing better players and using Training to level and rank them up, boosting their stats over time. The core loop is simple — play, earn, upgrade, repeat — and the depth comes from which modes you grind and how smartly you spend.
The modes you'll actually play
- VS Attack (VSA) — fast, chance-based attacking rounds where you "seize every chance and ascend to Champion status." Quick rewards in short bursts.
- Head to Head (H2H) — full real-time matches against other players. This is where the proper competition lives.
- Division Rivals — the long-term grind. Every match pays out and pushes you toward weekly rewards, which makes it the most reliable way to farm coins.
- Events — limited-time challenges that hand out the best players and rewards. Always check what's live before you spend.
Coins, Gems and FC Points explained
FC Mobile runs on three currencies, and knowing the difference saves you money:
- Coins — the everyday currency and the easiest to get. You earn them from VSA, H2H, Division Rivals, Daily Activities, free packs and trading on the market. Coins buy most players.
- Gems — the flexible premium currency, but you can earn it free from Daily Activities, the Star Pass and events. Use Gems for stamina refills, limited pack events and key items — don't waste them.
- FC Points — the paid premium currency. You never need them to progress; everything that matters is earnable with coins and gems.
Beginner tips that actually help
- Grind Division Rivals for coins. It's the most consistent coin farm in the game — every match counts toward rewards.
- Do your Daily Activities every day. They're the steadiest free source of coins and gems, and they add up fast.
- Don't blow gems on early packs. Save them for the bigger limited-time events with far better odds.
- Use the market. Buying low and selling high is one of the fastest ways to build a coin balance once you learn prices.
- Match your formation to your players. Experiment until your best cards are in their best roles — it matters more than overall rating.
On the player front, fast, clinical forwards rule the meta (Kylian Mbappé is a regular near the top), but event cards shift the picture constantly — so chase the players that fit your formation, not just the highest number.
The bottom line
FC Mobile rewards patience over spending: grind Division Rivals, do your dailies, hoard gems for the right events, and build around the players you actually own. It's a genuinely deep free game once it clicks. We'll keep adding FC Mobile guides in our FC Mobile section — and if you also play the console game, our Ultimate Team guides cover that side too (just remember it's a separate game with its own economy).

The EA FC Zone Team plays EA SPORTS FC every week (Ultimate Team, Career Mode and more), testing every squad, SBC and tactic before we write about it.
